The Family Milk Cow
There is absolutely nothing like having a family milk cow! We use to have a preconceived idea of what this would mean for our lives if we added a dairy cow to our farm. In fact, for the first few weeks after our first cow arrived we thought our life on the farm, as we knew it, was forever changed! And we were right, just not in the way we thought it was. Our cows have become one of the greatest blessings, and vital assets. Join us as we share what we have learned, and what we are continuing to learn along the way!

Buying your first cow
“Is a milk cow for me? What are some things I need to know before buying my first cow? What are the things I need to look for, and the questions I need to ask?” Find out what we learned after buying our first cows.

The first few weeks
It’s incredibly important to give yourself, and your cow, time and grace for the first few weeks after you bring her home. It’s a bonding period, and a time to learn and grow together.

The first calf
Even if you buy a cow that is already in milk, you will eventually need to breed her again. Here we share our experiences with breeding, milk fever and more.

caring for the family cow
It’s so important to be sure your cow is getting good and proper nutrition. This can be a learning curve, but the full milk jars in the fridge are a great motivation! She’s doing hard work, and she deserves proper care.

“Cows teach us that patience and perservance lead to a fulfilling life.”
